He was coming off of all-conference honors as a tackle on an 7-0-1 team that had won the Missouri College Union championship in his final season at MVC. During his time at Harrisonville Coach Brock mentored the football, basketball and track teams. His salary for teaching and coaching was $129 a month. His contract also had a clause that he could not marry his first year on the job. In his first season as football coach his team had 33 players. Harrisonville’s high school had around 150 boys at that time. That year he would guide the Wildcats to a second place finish in the Midwest Conference. After leaving Harrisonville Coach Brock would go on to coach at high school’s in Milwaukee, Wis., Carrollton, and Hannibal. After serving in WWII, Brock would go into school administration as principle for high schools in Edwardsville and Aurora, Illinois. He would then return to his alma mater, Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. Coach Brock would close out his career in education as the “Dean of Students” and serving his final year as the school’s interim president. George Brock’s educational background included graduate and post graduate work at the University of Missouri, the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin, Northwestern University and San Diego State University. In 1974 George Brock was inducted into the Missouri Valley College Hall of Fame.
